21 year old Christina Waage from Auli in Romerike has been named Miss Norway 2016. She will represent Norway in the international Miss Universe competition.
15 women from across the country aged 18 to 27 years participated in the finals on Saturday night.
– I super grateful to everyone who has supported me and been with me the whole way, Waage says.
Norway has not won Miss Universe since Mona Grudt represented the country in 1990. Now press officer Knut Yrvin thinks that there are good odds that Norway will once more excel in the international beauty pageant.
– This is the best candidate we’ve ever had, so now we hope that she will be among the top ten contestants in the Miss Universe competition, he says.
The winner herself says that she believes the way ahead will be “a wonderful adventure.”
– I’ll do everything I can to make you proud, she says.
The international final will be held on January 30 next year in the Philippines.
