Scandinavia’s biggest ceramic sculpture park, created by Magne Furuholmen, has opened at Fornebu.
Queen Sonja performed the opening on Thursday. The park has the largest collection of sculptures created by a Norwegian artist since the Vigeland Park, the Royal Palace writes on its website.
the sculpture park has been named ‘Imprints’ , and is situated outside Aker’s Fornebu headquarters. In the ten-acre large park there are 40 ceramic individual works, all executed in fired feldspath earthenware. Two huge pots of 6 meters , weighing 9 tons each, are forming the entrance and exit to the park.
Magne Furuholmen himself spoke about the project at the opening on Thursday. It has taken him two years to complete the park, which was commissioned by Kjell Inge Røkke and Aker, writes Aftenposten. Røkke was present at the opening on Thursday.
– The goal has been to create a park that can be experienced in different ways at different times, with water in summer and damp in winter as an atmospheric element in addition to lighting, Furuholmen says to Aftenposten.
