Culture Minister,Trine Skei Grande of Venstre (V),said she not only expects, but hopes to receive criticism when she presents the new cultural policy announcement.

When the message is presented on Friday,it will be 15 years since last time.As Grande sees it, the goal is to define the role of art in society wrote Aftenposten newspaper.

“I feel that this is the closest I come to my intellectual property,I admit. This is a rather ideological, and not an instrumental, message. I hope that it will create some debate” said the Venstre Minister.

“I know the bunad people want their own chapter on bunads, but they won’t get it in this message. We try to be concrete, but do not work through the cultural field.”

The Minister of Culture hopes that those who are not explicitly mentioned realise that they are in agreement at a general level. She said there will be goals for cultural
policy, but would not anticipate the specific content.

“In the message,I try to put the tone in view of art and culture, which I think are expressions, and that cultural policy is a freedom of expression policy. That approach runs through everything’’ said Grande.

She believes it would be pointless not to accept people criticising.

“I hope, and expect me to get a lot of feedback” the Minister of Culture said.
