Comedian Kristian Valen was released on Sunday by police a day after he was arrested and charged with carrying of weapons in public places.

– He is questioned and released. The release is quite obvious, since no people in Norway are jailed even if they suspected of having had a toy guns in their hand sitting on a bench.

Beyond that there is little to comment, saying Valens lawyer, John Christian Elden to news agency NTB.

Valen was on Saturday arrested at Aker Brygge in Oslo. it was a security guards who alerted police about a man in camouflage clothing that had a weapon.

The weapon turned out to be sealed and could not be used. Something Valen are allowed to have and which he uses in his stage shows, according to Elden.

The comedian must have been drunk when he was arrested and has therefore been kept in jail until Sunday until an interrogation could be carried out. After the interrogation, he was released.

Police lawyer Line Borgen, confirmed to VG that Valen was interrogated Sunday morning and after that he was released. She would not comment on what was said during the interrogation.

Valen was in February charged with threats to the police, after he promised 10,000 crowns to those who had information about two police officers who were in his apartment that same month. This case is scheduled in Oslo District Court for  this September.
