The documentary about the chess world champion Magnus Carlsen has been sold to 38 countries and will be released in theaters in ten different cities in the United States.
The Danish sales company TrustNordisk, which distributes the documentary tells of the sale to newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.

– It’s great, and it seems that the subject of the film resonates with a lot of people these days ,  director Benjamin Ree says. He works in VGTV, which has been producing the film.
The film premiered at the Tribeca festival in New York in April, as the first Norwegian cinema documentary ever.

– “Magnus” has now been sold to countries on three different continents, which is absolutely incredible. It shows that the story of  ” the unusual boy,” who is the best chess player of all time, is something that captivates across both culture and language,  producer Sigurd Mikal Karoliussen in Musk Film says.
