The new National Museum that is being built at Vestbanetomta in Oslo is looking for a new president. The position is now being advertised both nationally and internationally.

In 2020 the National Museum will open in a brand new building. In advance of this one of the most important positions within the cultural field needs to filled.
The current Director, Audun Eckhoff, has a fixed term which expires in March next year.
It caused a stir when the National Museum’s board this summer let out a press release on its website in which they wrote that those “fundamental causes” had decided to announce the position of Director.
In particular, the line “The Board of the National Museum are hoping for a good supply of applicants, including the current director ‘ caused reactions.
Many thought that the wording gave the impression that the announcement was pro forma and that the board initially wished Eckhoff should continue, which he has stated that he could imagine.
In the final vacancy announcement, which is now posted on the museum’s website, the controversial wording has been removed.
The application deadline is December 31.
