98,000 applicants have been offered a campus in this year’s main admission to higher education, 4,176 more than last year. The IT field of education has increased by 17 percent.

In total, there were more than 140,000 applicants for 1,309 line of study at 27 state universities and colleges this year, and more applicants than ever before are eligible and have been admitted.

“This is good for both students and the rest of society. Knowledge, education and research are crucial to addressing the challenges we face and to qualify for an ever-changing and demanding job market,” says Minister of Education and Knowledge, Iselin Nybø (V).

The figures from the Samordna opptak show that nearly 125,000 of those who applied are eligible for admission to at least one line of study. Almost eight out of ten have been offered a study place, and over half have come to their first choice. Thus, there were issued 4,776 more admissions than in 2017.

In total, 4,201 admissions have been offered for primary school teacher education this year, an increase of 14 percent from last year. IT studies have increased by 17 percent. 9,606 will receive seats this year against 8,882 last year.
