A former student from Bjerkreim municipality in Rogaland has been awarded 850,000 NOK in compensation for permanent injuries sustained after bullying, writes Municipal Report.

The newspaper has been granted access to the compensation agreement, which states that the former student has suffered permanent injury after bullying. The municipality acknowledges liability for damages and has agreed to pay 850,000 NOK and cover all attorneys’ expenses in connection with this case.

It was lawyer Christian Thrane Asserson who promoted the claim on behalf of the former student in January 2015.

“This has taken its time, but I have had good dialogue with the lawyer representing the municipality,” said Asserson to the newspaper.

Currently there are other claims for four other students in three families in connection with bullying in the same municipality which are still unclear.

Rådmann Ørjan Daltveit in Bjerkreim tells Stavanger Aftenblad that he is missing information from the other families to take their case further for compensation claims.

– What information I will not say. We will address that during meetings with the victims, which is being scheduled,” says Daltveit.
