When a new absentee policy led to a 47% drop in absenteeism in secondary schools in Finnmark, it was a victory for discipline, said Prime Minister, Erna Solberg.

‘Such a large drop in absenteeism is a signal that it is possible to keep order and discipline in the classroom’, said Solberg to the news agency, NTB.

She presented the encouraging figures for a high school in Alta on Tuesday morning.

The Prime Minister views the figures from Finnmark as final confirmation that it was appropriate to introduce the ‘absence limit’.

Solberg denied to NTB, the opposite opinion that the large decline in absenteeism is rather an expression of sick students being chased to school.
