A record number of students have been offered places at universities and colleges, according to the Ministry of Education.

NUCAS has sent out 91,173 offers of acceptances at universities and colleges. There are 2,789 more student than last year.

– I am glad to see that so many are eligible for higher education and that so many have met the requirements for their first choice. Knowledge, education and research is the key to get to the realignment in Norway, said Minister Torbjørn Røe Isaksen.

Six out of ten women

Six out of ten who were offered higher education in this years admission, are women. It is about the same as last year’s record.

While there are several who are offered education, there are fewer coming into their first choice compared with last year. Six out of ten are satisfied with their first choice when it comes to admission.

This year’s main recording shows that there is a record number that want to be nurses. Education has experienced an increase of 20 percent more applications compared to 2015.

Admissions also shows that there is huge influx to the University of Tromso. In all, 5,989 students have been offered places, this is an increase of 15 percent compared with last year.

– It’s terrific that students find UiT attractive. I hope all who are offered decide to use of the option of studying in the North, says Anne Homes Stream, of the University of Tromsø in a statement.
