The government will invest NOK 62 million in next year’s state budget for a project where elderly people will be investigated and the needs of the senior citizens will be mapped.

The background for the project is a desire to meet the needs of the so-called ‘elderly wave’ reported NRK news.

Minister of Senior and Public Health, Åse Michaelsen of Fremskrittsparti (Frp), said it is important to know the most about the seniors in society as the government can.

“We see that in the municipalities it’s important to find out who the elderly are and what challenges they have. Some municipalities carry out preventive home visits. In the reform of the elderly policy, this is one of the measures we want the municipalities to focus on even more” said Michaelsen to NRK.

The first NOK 62 million for the project is already included in the draft state budget for 2019, which will be presented on the 8th of October.
