The decline in the offshore industry makes around 100 permanent employees lose their jobs at Kongsberg Maritime. Since October last year, almost as many had to go.

The employees were informed of the decision during a meeting Thursday, writes the local newspaper Laagendalsposten.

– The downsizing will touch multiple locations, but with an emphasis on Kongsberg, says communications director Ronny Lie in Kongsberg.

– It is regrettable that there is a need for downsizing, but adjustments are necessary to market adjustments that ensure competitiveness in a demanding offshore market, he continues.
