The insurance company Gjensidige is to reduce its workforce by approximately 190 FTEs during 2017.

The downsizing will affect both staff and support functions across the group. Meanwhile, the company is implementing several changes in corporate management as well.

– We must always make sure to run the business as efficiently as possible.

Now we will reduce costs in some areas in order to provide room for investments in technology, branding and expertise that will strengthen Gjensidige’s position moving forward, says CEO Helge Leiro Baastad in a statement.

The company states that in the third quarter of 2016 they will make a one-off provision of about 120 million NOK to cover restructuring costs.

– The aim is to avoid layoffs by offering voluntary solutions to employees, says Baastad.
