200 jobs lost after Wintershall-DEA fusion

200 jobs were cut after the merger of the German oil company Wintershall,and DEA Norge.

The two companies together have more tha650 employees in Norway,and almost a third of them will lose their jobs.

The cutbacks will take place in 2020 said Communications Manager,Kjetil Hjertvik of DEA Norway to Nettavisen newspaper.

He said those who will lose their job are largely temporarily hired labour.

The merger between German Wintershall and DEA Norway will make the company the seventh largest oil company on the Norwegian shelf,and the company aims to increase production by 40% by the start of the next decade.It is expected that the merger will be completed during the first quarter of this year.

The company will also cut 800 jobs in Germany.

Altogether,the company has 4,200 employees worldwide,and one quarter of these will lose their jobs after the merger.Norwegian,Maria Moræus Hansen is the head of the company.
