58 percent more unemployed engineers and IT people

Unemployment has in one year increased by 58 percent within the fields of engineering and IT , according to new figures from the Nav. The overall unemployment rate is at 3.3 percent.
At the end of February, 90,900 registered as unemployed with the Nav. This is an increase of 9,400 persons compared with February last year, and represents 3.3 percent of the workforce.
The county Rogaland has the highest unemployment rate, with a total of 4.9 percent. Aust-Agder is in second place with  4.5 percent. The lowest amount of people who are unemploymed are in Oppland, Sogn- og Fjordane and Troms, each with 2.3 percent.
The largest increase in unemployment, according to occupation, is registered within the fields of engineering and IT, where 2,893 more are unemployed compared with February 2015. This corresponds to an increase of 58 percent. Also the industrial sector is experiencing a significant change in the percentage of unemployed, with a 28 percent increase in the same period.
