The ministry of culture rejects the application of the NHO trade members to maintain the grocery industry open on Sunday, the second Pentecost day this year.

The ministry of culture has considered the matter and stressed that the main rule in holidays’ law is that stores will be closed on these days.
The NHO trade members within the grocery industry sought to keep open the stores, because the second day of Pentecost this year falls on the day before the 17th of May. The organization sought previously that all counties on exemption from the requirement should be to held closed the second day of Pentecost, but the application was rejected.
The Ministry emphasizes that an exemption must be applied equally throughout the country and for all grocery stores, but believes the law does not provide a legal basis for such a comprehensive permit.
