The board of NTE has decided to build a new power station for NOK 1 billion in Nedre Fiskumfoss in Namsen, which will be completed in 2023.

“Our decision to build a new, large power station in Namsen is good news for NTE, the local community, the river salmon, and our common climate” said Nord-Trøndelag Electricity Agency’s, NTE’s, Jon Håvard Solum in a press release.

The new power station will annually produce renewable energy of 50,000 barrels and be tailored to the needs of a national salmon river. Construction will begin in the first half of 2019, and the plant will be completed in 2023.

‘’In the hydropower of Norway, 50% of the energy consumption is still fossil fuelled. Renewable hydropower from Namsen provides opportunities for the development of both a more environmentally friendly society and local jobs’’ he continued.

The case will be finalised by NTE’s Corporate Assembly on the 21st of November.
