Subsea manufacturer, Agility Subsea Fabrication, reduces workforce by around a hundred employees and moving production from Skien to Tønsberg temporarily.

A year ago, the firm received an order worth 450 million and entered 2016 with an order backlog of 700 million. Number of employees increased by ten to 310 in addition to around 50 consultants, writes Varden.

During the year, staffing has been reduced to approximately 270 employees.

After downsizing, the firm will have 185 employees.

Relocated production from Skien to Tønsberg will happen from April next year. The lease in Tønsberg last until 2024 with the possibility of closure in 2019.

– We hope to open in Skien in about eighteen months. There may be plans to build bigger halls, says Tove Nilsen Ljungquist.

The company currently has around 110 employees at the plant on Røra in Skien and around 175 in Tønsberg.
