Aker Solutions lay off employees totaling 100, while competitor FMC Technologies will have to lay off 200 employees in subsea operations.
– We are going to use layoffs in the low season we are now entering, where there is less activity on the Norwegian shelf.
No figures have been set, but we have stated that there could be up to 200 in total, says communications manager Andreas Helgesen to Sysla Offshore.
Also Aker Solution shows that the business is entering a period of low activity in their reasoning behind laying off people in subsea service business.
– Temporary layoffs have been chosen instead of layoffs, because our experience indicates that activity picks up in the spring in connection with seasonal work, says press officer Anne Cecilie Lund-Andersen to the website.
