Nav received 5,600 notifications of layoffs and termination of contracts in April. That’s almost twice as many as they received one year ago.
Of the 5,600 notifications Nav received, 4,600 of them were notices of termination of contracts. That makes this, along with the number of October 2015, the highest number in any month after unemployment began to rise, Nav writes in a statement.
Nav received 2,700 more notices of lay-offs termination of contracts last month than they did a year ago. It is still Rogaland which is most affected, and Nav received notices of the firing or layoffs of nearly 2,000 people in Rogaland in April.
– Although there have been some positive signals in the Norwegian labor market in recent months, these numbers confirm that we have to expect the rise in unemployment to continue, particularly in certain industries and regions, Sigurd Vågeng, Labor and Welfare Director in Nav said.
Only companies that are planning to fire or lay off more than ten people, have to notify NAV about this.
