Avinor says no to acquiring Rygge , as it’s airport management proposed.

It may be a good idea that the state takes over Rygge airport and put it under Avinor,  CEO Pål F. Tandberg said.
But the state airport owner looks at it differently:
– It will not be very tempting to take over an airport without traffic or business. We do not see which other companies will be interested when Ryanair disappears, says senior adviser in Avinor,  Jon Inge Lian to news agency NTB.

Decide
The board at Rygge airport has decided to discontinue the operations, providing that Ryanair is keeping to the decision to suspend their operations  there.

Tandberg however believes that the airport could still be saved. By state aid.
– With the state on all sides around the table,  the infrastructure already established at Rygge and Torp can be  better utilized. The need for a third runway at Gardemoen airport will be reduced and the defense will save contingency costs, he argues.
Senior Adviser Lian believes this premise does not hold. The airlines decide which airports they want to use. Avinor can not direct the airlines to specific airports, he maintains.
