Chief Commissioner in Oslo, Raymond Johansen, said before the election last year that no Obos apartments should pay property taxes.

But this year, 2,500 Obos apartments were affected. In the next few years there will be more.

‘Of the scant 100,000 apartments for whom we are a business manager, 2500 received property tax this year. For most people it concerns a modest amount of a hundred kroner’, said Executive Vice President of Obos, Morten Aagenæs, to the newspaper Aftenposten.

‘Having been around and knocking on doors of potential voters during the election campaign in 2015, I explained to people that nobody in Obos apartments will receive a property tax’, said Raymond Johansen to the newspaper VG

The city council estimated that property tax would comprise inclusion of 22 percent of the city’s homes, but even with conservative estimates of future inflation, Aftenposten estimates that half of the city’s properties will pay property tax in 2019.
