Coop considering whether to retain all six supermarket chains Note, Extra, Coop Prix, Coop Mega, Coop Market and Matkroken.
In connection with the new strategy one of the themes will be cut in the number of stores, written newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.

– I do not exclude that there will be fewer chains, but I have not said that we will take out some chains. It is too early to say anything concrete, says brand director Håvard Jensen.

A conclusion in the strategy process is expected in the autumn.

A factor in the assessment is the growth in grocery online, confirms Jensen.

Coop is the second largest grocery chain – after Norway Group – and currently operates about 1,150 grocery stores within the six chains.

Last year Coop bought ICA chain and has since closed down 90 stores.
