Our debt grows more slowly

Norwegians debt has increased over the past year, but not as much as before. At the end of May, the domestic debt to households, municipalities and businesses was about 5,000 billion.

Debt growth in the twelve months up till May was 4.8 percent, which is 0.3 percentage points lower than in the twelve month period before, according to K2 figures from Statistics Norway (SSB).
Of this, household debt was 2.953 billion. The twelve-month growth was 5.8 percent, down from 6.0 percent the month before.
The credit indicator K2 is an important tool for Norges Bank when the base rate is being condidered.
