SAS had 2.25 million passengers on its scheduled flights in March this year, a decline of 6.1 percent from the same month last year.
Including charter flights SAS had just over 2.3 million passengers in the third month, according to the traffic figures which were presented Thursday.
Corresponding figures for the Norwegian is 2.2 million passengers, which represents an increase of 27 percent from the same month last year. The increase can largely be explained by the fact that the company’s traffic in this month in 2015 was greatly reduced because of the strike.
This may also help to explain why SAS is experiencing a downturn now in March compared with March last year.
SAS can report an increase in intercontinental traffic of 15.8 percent from March last year to March this year, and place particular emphasis of the new routes to Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Boston.
