DNB’s customers were informed on Monday that there will no longer be free cash withdrawals from the bank’s own ATMs.

From January 1st, withdrawal at DNB ATMs in Norway (with VISA and / or debit cards) will cost 10 kroner, stated the report, according to Dagens Næringsliv.

The price for withdrawal in ATMs other than DNB’s own, will rise from 7 to 10 kroner. Should withdrawal of money be from an ATM abroad, the cost will be 40 kroner, up from 35 kroner today.

‘We are constantly striving to digitize our services. We have come a long way with this, and wish for our customers to take advantage of online banking and other digital services as much as possible,’ offers the bank as justification.

From 1 January next year you will also be required to withdraw twice as much as previously when getting cash at a post office, and in-store bank.

In these areas, prices will rise from 10 to 20 kroner per outlet. Payment of bills at the same locations will rise from 75 to 100 kroner.

‘You can use your bank just as before, but it will be cheaper for you to do as much as possible yourself,’ says DNB.
