When flying model aircraft or drones you must stay at least 5 kilometers from the nearest airport. Now you can see where to draw the line on maps of all airports  belonging to Avinor.

Regulations on “aircraft without a driver on board” take effect at year’s end. Now you can find accurate maps and regulations for the use of drones in the areas around all airports on Avinor’s website.

– Drones can cause a significant risk to air traffic. Especially around airports, a drone poses great danger, and Avinor has now developed detailed guidelines for each airport, says communications manager Kristian Løksa of Avinor, which encourages everyone who flies a drone, to familiarize themselves with the regulations.

He stressed that the operator is responsible for the use
– For airplanes in the landing or departing phase drones are a particularly great risk, simply because they are so close to the ground that drones pose a real danger of collision.

This is why it is forbidden to fly drones closer than five kilometers from an airport unless you have an agreement with the tower, says the communications manager. He stressed that Avinor will report to the police any cases where drones pose a danger to air traffic.
