Elkjøp Nordic AS has signed a definitive agreement to acquire ten of the stores of the retail Fona in Denmark. This means the combine will strengthen its position as market leader in Denmark.
Elkjøp Nordic is already, through the brand Elgiganten, the market leader in Denmark. This chain now has 30 stores in the country, and the ten Fona stores will be rebranded as Elgiganten stores by summer 2017.
The Fona chain was established  in 1926 and is one of Denmark’s most famous stores. The chain currently has 48 stores across the country, unlike the Elgiganten stores, these are placed in central areas.
The acquisition has been submitted to the Danish Competition Authority and will come into force when getting the green light from the authorities.
