Over the past decade the number of senior citizens of minimum pensions have decreased by 37,000 . The number will be reduced by a further 80,000 in the coming years, according to the prognoses of Nav .

There are currently 147,000 pensioners who get minimum pensions, compared  to 184 000 in 2006, according to  the newspaper Dagsavisen.
The prognoses of Nav shows that only five percent of those who retire because of old age will be on minimum pensions in 2030. It is expected that the total number of pensioners  living on minimum pensions will then be 65,000.

–  Compared to people who retired because of old age previously, very few of the people who currently retire because of old age or who have  recently retired because of old  age get the minimum pension

This is because the women who today are pensioners, have had a considerably higher level of employment than the oldest female pensioners ,  section manager  in Labour and Welfare, Ole Kristian Lien, said .
