In July this year  Nav received a total of 2,700 notifications of possible layoffs and dismissals. This is the lowest monthly figure since 2014, but in Rogaland  the situation is still bad.

The oil crisis has hit Rogaland with full force and the number of notifications of layoffs and dismissals in this county is over twice as many as in any other county in the country, reports Nav.

In JulyNav Rogaland has received notices of dismissals and layoffs of over 1,000 people, a slight decrease from last month when they received notices that 1,163 people were to be fired or laid off.

Almost half of the received notifications come from the category manufacturing, mining and quarrying, which includes the oil industry .

– There is still uncertainty in the labor market in some regions, but we see a gradual improvement in most places. It is too early to tell whether the increase has stopped, but the situation looks brighter than a few months ago, Labor and Welfare Director Sigrun Vågeng comments.

Only companies that are planning to fire or lay off a minimum of ten employees have to notify Nav. The agency uses the term “forecasts” since the notifcations does not neccessary result in people being laid off or fired.
