Only one in five businesses have taken advantage of increased access for temporary employment, stated the NHO’s new employer barometer.

While 88 percent of companies report that they have knowledge of the new rules, only 19 percent have taken advantage of the increased access to temporary employment which the government introduced last summer, the survey shows.
It is the largest companies that use temporary employment most.
Meanwhile, eight out of ten companies fully or partly agree that permanent positions should remain the general rule in Norwegian working life.
NHO employers barometer is based on a survey of 1,695 Norwegian businesses about including employment policy, types of employment and inclusion.
It is the first time NHO has conducted such a survey.
The survey also shows that 20 percent of the smallest businesses are not aware of the change in the Working Environment Act on temporary employment at all.
In late October, there were a total of 232,000 temporary employees in Norway, according to a survey from Statistics Norway (SSB).
Over the past year the number has increased by 25,000 or 12 percent. It is in the retail sector that the use of temporary employment has increased the most.
