Researchers will assess the extent and the socio-economic importance of recreational fishing along the Norwegian coast.

– We’ll look at how many fish and what type they get and so we will determine how much money they leave behind in their fishing and who they are.

In Oslofjord area, for example, very many Eastern Europeans and immigrants are doing the fishing, says researcher Alf Ring Kleiven at IMR to NRK news.

He believes there the number of people going for fishing and skiing in Norway are almost equal. A tree-year research project is planned.
