Garbage pickup in five towns affected by strike

Garbage pickup five cities will be hit if the mediation between transport workers and NHO Transport not successful within midnight on Sunday.

Bergen, Stavanger, Sarpsborg, Stord, Godvik and Stokke are first out if it becomes garbage strike. Here, the collection and delivery of household waste be affected, alerts Norwegian Transport Workers’ Union.

In addition, retrieval and delivery of waste from the construction industry will be affected by a possible strike.

In the ordinary negotiations between Transport Workers Federation and NHO Transport increase of the minimum wage was a key point that led to the negotiations broke down earlier this summer.

– The minimum wage is an important tool to avoid social dumping in the industry and to strengthen employees’ overall pay levels, says chief negotiator Ole Einar Adamsrød in Transport Workers Union.

    If garbage collectors go on strike the government should use other voluntary people to collect garbage.
