The total production of garden berries in 2015 is estimated at 14 900 tonnes; an increase of 3 400 tonnes from the year before. In the same period, the production of fruit was reduced by 3 100 tonnes to a total of 12 900 tonnes.
The increase in the production of garden berries in 2015 is mainly due to higher production of strawberries.
Strawberry production amounted to 11 200 tonnes of the total production of garden berries, while raspberry production amounted to 2 800 tonnes.
The total production of fruit is estimated at 12 900 tonnes in 2015; a decrease of 3 100 tonnes from 2014. Apples represented 10 800 tonnes of the total fruit production, plums 1 300 tonnes and pears 200 tonnes. Cherries and sweet cherries made up 600 tonnes of the fruit production.
The total production of vegetables in Norway is estimated at 185 600 tonnes in 2015; a decrease of 3 800 tonnes from the year before. The production of field-grown vegetables represented 157 600 tonnes of the total production, and greenhouse vegetables 28 100 tonnes. Carrots represented a third of the production of field-grown vegetables, while onions made up 16 per cent. Cucumbers and tomatoes amounted to 54 and 41 per cent respectively of the total production of vegetables in greenhouses in 2015.
