Government celebrated Oil Norway at City Hall

The King, the Prime Minister and a number of prominent guests sat down Thursday night met at the Oslo City Hall to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Norway’s oil.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg was the host of the banquet and welcomed King Harald who was the guest of honor at the City Hall, before the Mayor Marianne Borgen gave a welcome speech and said congratulation to the 50th anniversary.

Minister of Labor Anniken Hauglie and Oil Minister Tord Lien sat on either side of King Harald, who sat opposite Solberg, former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland and Finance Siv Jensen.

Around 340 guests from a wide range of fields of politics, labor, business and bureaucracy were invited for dinner. The main course was veal fillet; Hjeltnes was master of ceremonies and talks, while former director of NPD – Gunnar Berge – gave the speech.

Among the guests were former prime ministers kåre willoch and Kjell Magne Bondevik, former oil and energy ministers, representatives from Parliament, the Sami Parliament and the Supreme Court, as well as several county governors and mayors from oil municipalities pioneers in oil and gas operations.

There were also EEA and EU minister Elisabeth Vik Aspaker, Defence Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide and Agriculture Minister Jon Georg Dale. There were a total of seven Cabinet members present.
