Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Anniken Hauglie of Høyre (H) aims to forbid that those who receive benefits for children and spouses, export them abroad wrote VG newspaper.

Today, a parent who lives abroad can receive NOK 38,753 per child, while full pension supplement for retirees amounts to NOK 46,742 per year according to the newspaper.

‘’We will introduce an export ban on child and spouse supplement for benefits from Nav. We will do so by denying that the wife and children of the insured will receive child and spouse supplement if they do not live in Norway,” said Hauglie.

Disability and retirement pensioners in Norway moving out do not lose their own disability or retirement pension. But the government will not let them have children and spouse extensions if they and their family do not live in Norway.

Today there are no laws that prevent children or spouses who do not live in Norway, and who in some cases never did, nevertheless receiving child and spouse supplements.

“The Government believes that the legitimacy of the social security system may be impaired if such an addition is given to people with little or no connection to Norway,” said Hauglie.
