After the Panama Papers revelations , many more than previously are informing the tax authorities about hidden assets, reports the newspaper VG.

A  record number have contacted the tax authorities during the first six months to report values that should have been reported earlier. If you do this do not have to pay additional tax, and you do not risk being prosecuted, writes VG.

295 people made contact with the tax authorities during the first half year in order to disclose assets they should have taxed , against 161 persons at the same time last year.

– We see that there has been a record-breaking use of the system over the last six months. This may be due to the Panama Papers revalations and increased awareness of international taxation. I think this is positive, because people now think about what they should declare, said director Hans Christian Holte at the Tax authories.
