Following a successful test in March, the Kongsberg Group have received orders to deliver test missiles to the Defence Department to a value of NOK 700 million.

Kongsberg Group’s technology company, Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace AS, signed the agreement for delivery of test missiles worth a total of NOK 700 million with Defence Materials. The Joint Strike Missile (JSM) missiles will be used for the integration phase of the Armed Forces F-35, wrote the Kongsberg Group in a press release on Friday.

“The JSM project continues on schedule and is the only five-generation missile available on the F-35. The project has significant long-term potential for the Kongsberg Group and a large number of Norwegian subcontractors,’’ said Eirik Lie, CEO of Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace AS in the press release.

Test missiles are to be used for integration of the F-35 missiles. These are practical tests on the aircraft, separate from the aircraft, and complete tests against ground targets.

The delivery of missiles is not the only major contract Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace AS has on the F-35 aircraft. Earlier this year, it became known that the Group will deliver parts to the tails of more than 150 of the combat aircraft. The order has a value of NOK 535 million.
