This Saturday will be the last Saturday the postmen will be making the rounds. The amount of mail to be delivered, is so small that Posten now ends the service.
The change is a consequence of the new Postal Services Act which came into force on 1 January this year, along with the Third Postal Directive of EU.
The previous coalition government had to cancel their plans of introducing the directive in question after the congress of the Labor party in 2011 went against the party leadership, who wanted to indtroduce it .
The blueblue government has, however, not shared any of the opposition to the directive, and already in 2014 they sent out the proposal for consultation.
