Norwegian Minister Monica Mæland received assurances when she met British Trade Minister Liam Fox in London, but how a future agreement with Norway would look has not been made any clearer.

– We had a good conversation, stated Mæland when NTB met her at the Horse Guards Parade in London.

– He believed that the UK will have more free trade with the entire world, not less. He was clear that he wanted no less trade between Britain and Norway than what we have today. This is very important for us, the United Kingdom is one of our most important trading partners, she told us about the talks.

What type of trade agreement Norway can get with Britain when Britain leaves the EU is not becoming any clearer. Mæland says she does not have any details from the British trade minister.

– The most important thing for me was to meet him, said Mæland to news agency NTB.
– My concern was that we should have good communication and I am also pleased that we have agreed that we are important to each other. This is a good starting point, she said.
