More new enterprises

A total of 14 977 new enterprises were registered during the second quarter of 2016.

This is an increase of 4.2 per cent compared with the same period in 2015. Three in five new enterprises were registered as sole proprietorships.

From the 2nd quarter of 2015 to the 2nd quarter of 2016, the number of new sole proprietorships increased by 8.2 per cent and the number of new registered private limited liability companies decreased by 0.6 per cent. Sole proprietorships accounted for 58 per cent of all enterprises in the 2nd quarter of 2016 and private limited liability companies accounted for 39 per cent.

Most new enterprises were registered within scientific and technical activities (15 per cent), construction (14 per cent) and retail trade (10 per cent).

Most new enterprises were registered in Oslo and Akershus in the 2nd quarter of 2016. Overall, 3 085 new enterprises were registered in Oslo and 1 745 in Akershus. From the 2nd quarter of 2015 to the 2nd quarter of 2016, the number of new enterprises increased by 5.2 per cent in Oslo and 2.7 per cent in Akershus.

The figures include all new enterprises except enterprises within agriculture, forestry, fishing and public administration.
