More passengers and fuller flights for SAS

SAS transported 2.3 million passengers in November this year, an increase of 1.8 per cent from the same month last year. The planes were also fuller.

The cabin factor, ie how well the company is able to fill the aircraft, increased by 0.4 percentage points to 69 per cent, according to traffic figures released by SAS on Friday.

Traffic on intercontinental routes increased 2.6 per cent, while capacity fell by 1.8 per cent. The increase was mainly on flights to Asia.

On routes in Europe and between the Scandinavian countries, traffic decreased by 1.5 per cent, while the capacity was 0.2 per cent higher.

Domestic traffic increased by 2.6 per cent. At the same time, the increase in capacity was 3.8 per cent, thus the cabin factor was lower. Developments went the same way in Norway and Sweden.

Competitor Norwegian, who released its figures on Thursday, shows a passenger growth of 14 per cent to almost 2.9 million passengers. However, the company has increased capacity considerably during the period, which resulted in a decline in the cabin factor of 4.9 percentage points – to 78.8 per cent.
