The Winston Churchill new British 5-pound notes will put into circulation on Tuesday. The new banknote is made of thin plastic and should withstand a cycle in the washer.

Queen Elizabeth and former Prime Minister Winston Churchill are pictured on each side of the new edition of the British bank note.

According to the Bank of England the note has the new “fives” additional security features that make it even more difficult to counterfeit, as well as enable it to last more than twice as long as the old banknotes made of paper.

Churchill was chosen because he is “one of the greatest political leaders of all time, and because he is the only prime minister who has won the Nobel Prize for literature,” says General Manager Mark Carney said in a statement.

– Like Churchill, the new bill will also withstand the test of ime, says Carney.
