Government proposals for new construction requirements are out for consultation. Several requirements are reduced, hoping to cut costs for housing developers.
One of the changed requirements concerns the much talked about turning circle for wheelchairs.
The circle remains basically unchanged at 1.5 meters, but the government will let developers choose between the circle and a rectangle of 1.3 x 1.8 meters, writes Your Money.
The rectangle is bigger, but freedom of choice should provide more opportunities to find layouts. In student housing the circle has shrunk to 1.3 meters.
The requirement for sound attenuation between common and living in student housing is also reduced.
The minimum sports equipment halved from 5 to 2.5 square meters for apartments of less than 50 square meters.
In addition, requirements have been reduced for daylight available balconies and terraces and views from the bedrooms.
– The proposals can make all new houses 100,000 kroner cheaper to build and can provide apartments under 50 square meters with cost savings of approximately NOK 130,000, says Conservative housing policy spokesperson Mudassar Kapur.
