Fresh Norwegian sea food airborne every Tuesday.

Since the 2014 launch of the Emirates route between Avinor Oslo Airport and Dubai, the airline has served as one of the largest international carriers of fresh Norwegian sea food – using their passenger planes. The demand for Norwegian sea food is rapidly increasing in Asia and Africa and Emirates want to play a greater part in fulfilling this demand.

On Tuesday 11 October, an Emirates SkyCargo air freighter will make its first weekly departure from Oslo Airport. Emirates will deploy a Boeing 777-200F to carry Norwegian salmon and other sea food directly to Dubai, for distribution onwards to Asia and Africa.

Better access
Oslo Airport wishes to facilitate and contribute to efficient export of Norwegian commodities, and the Emirates air freighter is happily welcomed.

“We are delighted that Emirates would like to take part in the significant growth in Norwegian sea food export to the major developing markets outside of Europe,” says Avinor Manager Cargo Development, Martin Langaas.

“Salmon is the greatest single product in air freight across Europe, and Norway is one of the few markets in which the demand for air freight is growing. The new Emirates route will give Norwegian salmon exporters even better access to a unique and efficient network, out of Dubai with Emirates,” Langaas concludes.

The route will be serviced every Tuesday, with arrival at 11:00 and departure at 13:00.
