A poor economy is contributing to fewer graduate policemen obtaining jobs.

Of 664 police students who have passed the Police Academy this year, only 262 found jobs in Police Athens for the third quarter of this year.

Corresponding figures for the same period last year was 482, stated the Police Directorate.

Meanwhile, police had 15,737 salaried employment per third quarter 2016. This is an increase of 314 compared to the same period last year.

The figures include police staff, lawyers and civilian employees. When the figures for the Police Security Service are added,  the complete number is 16,294.
