The fact that permanent jobs are less important for the younger generation is not true. Most young people want a steady job, a survey shows.

Norstat conducted the study for the Svensson Foundation, an organization that works to promote the value of association and trade union rights. Just under 2,000 Norwegian working age people participated in the survey, and 89 percent of the participants aged 18 to 29 years old responded that it is important to have a permanent job in the future, wrote Klassekampen.

54 percent of those who are 50 years and older, respond the same.
CEO Andreas C. Halse of Svensson Foundation believes the answer is because today’s young people are growing up in an insecure time, with rising unemployment and more uncertainty.

– They are taking over a society that has much more uncertainty than their parents’ generation took over. When there was much more certainty that you would have a permanent job and income, he said.
