Norway and Greenland agreed quota agreement

Norway and Greenland have agreed on a quota agreement for 2017. The quotas for most fish species will be continued at the same level as this year.

The Norwegian opportunity to fish for halibut at East Greenland will be reduced by 90 tonnes. In return, Norway has increased its quota of tusk by 140 tons.

The Norwegian turbot quota of 900 tonnes at West Greenland and 400 tons in East Greenland, is continuing. Halibut quota of East Greenland will be reduced to 10 tonnes.

Cod quota will be continued with 1,200 tonnes and the quota for redfish with 800 tons. In addition, Norwegian vessels will have a quota of 150 tonnes of bycatch of other species.

Fisheries Minister, Per Sandberg, said in a statement that he is pleased that the parties agreed on a new deal.
