This week Norwegian begun collecting air passenger duty from its customers. Several passengers races are furious because of this, especially those who have ordered and paid for their flights before the tax was introduced on 1 June.

Norwegian collects the fee of 88 kroner for domestic flights and 80 kroner for foreign travel, NRK reports.
The airline  initially wanted deduct the amount directly from their customers’ bank or credit cards, the same card  used by the customers  to pay for their journey. This made the Consumer Ombudsman react, and now  the fee will be sent int an invoice for those who were not charged  the amount when they originally paid for the trip.

– Norwegian won’t get a single cent of this money. We collect this money on behalf of the state and would  have been happy to be spared being a “Collection Agency” for the state,  press officer Daniel Kirchhoff in Norwegian says.
Many passengers who have received the demands have used the comments section of Norwegian’s Facebook page to expressed their dissatisfaction with having to pay the fee.
Most people react negatively to the Norwegian demanding money on flights booked and paid before June 1, but which will occur after this date. The airline states that the tax is introduced retroactively and that they have to claim the amount because of this.
SAS, on the other hand, according to information officer Knut Morten Johansen do not plan to send any  invoices for the air fee for those who ordered and bought their tickets before 1 june.
