Norwegian is going to recruit American pilots for its  base for long-haul flights in Fort Lauderdale in Florida.

Over the next five years the airline will begin using a further 31 aircraft of the 787 Dreamliner for international flights. This leads to a need for new pilot jobs in the US and Europe.

Operational manager  in Norwegian, Asgeir Nyseth, says that the company has been committed to hiring American pilots ever since it launched its first transatlantic routes three years ago.

– Today we have more US cabin crew personnel than any other non-US airlines, and look forward to becoming the first European airline to employ American pilots, he said.

Norwegian currently has close to 500 US employees at  the bases for long-haul flights in Fort Lauderdale and New York.
